Francesco Addesi, BA (Hons), MA, RP (Q)

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Francesco is a developing Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), advancing through his Masters in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. His academic foundations were laid at the University of Guelph, where he immersed himself in a specialized Honors Bachelor of Arts program in Psychology, rigorously designed to delve into psychological theory.

Francesco strives to foster a therapeutic atmosphere where individuals feel seen and heard, free from judgment, and supported in their pursuit of self-discovery and growth. He believes each person's narrative is essential and deserves careful listening. He believes individuals can navigate their experiences by articulating and sharing personal stories, leading to appropriate cognitive processing and deeper understanding.

 

Francesco is registered in good standing as a Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, where he upholds professional standards. He is also a Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association member, aligning with its values and ethics in practice.

Francesco's work at Cogent is under the supervision of Simon Peter K Smith, C.Psych. As such, Francesco's services are eligible for coverage under most extended health benefits plans.

Clinical Psychologist

A Guelph, Ontario native, Simon holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto. He later traveled to Europe to complete a Master of Arts degree in Clinical and Health Psychology and a doctoral-level research diploma in Experimental Clinical Psychology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. His research and practice in Spain focused on the application of cognitive therapy in the psychosocial rehabilitation of patients experiencing persistent and distressing psychotic disorders. 

 

Returning to Canada in 2012, Simon took a position as the Lead Clinician for Mental Health at the Etobicoke Medical Centre Family Health Team. He has slowly grown his private practice work over the last decade, and recognizing a growing mental health crisis amongst men, has evolved his practice into Cogent, providing psychological services for men. His role includes direct service provision as well as the training and supervision of other mental health professionals.

 

Simon is registered in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. He is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, the Ontario Psychological Association,  the Colegio Oficial de Psicologos de Madrid, the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance, the International Positive Psychology Association and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
